We believe that every patient should be able to rely on their provider for accurate information. Our team is here to guide you through the basics of health care and healthy living to improve quality of life at home, on-the-go and throughout your treatment at FlexCare Infusion Center.

Autoimmune Overview

Autoimmune diseases are caused by overactive immune systems. When the body responds to an unknown trigger, it can produce antibodies that damage its own tissues instead of fighting infections. Many doctors recommend infusion therapy as a treatment option to reduce immune system activity and normalize cell function.

Healthy Home Tips

While no two patients experience the same set of symptoms, some are more common than others. It’s important to take care of your body at home to make treatment easier on yourself. Follow these tips to keep your body healthy and happy on the road to better health.

Get Plenty of Sleep

Aim to sleep for at least seven hours each night so you can limit stress, and other symptoms, for a refreshed mind and body that has time to repair itself.

Eat a Healthy Diet

Substitute trans fats with healthy fats such as olive oil or avocado to nourish your body. Foods high in sugar can lead to stress, so try popcorn as a healthy snack!

Identify Food Allergies

Some autoimmune symptoms can become more severe after eating certain foods such as gluten, soy, dairy, fruits, shellfish, nuts and corn.

Exercise Regularly

Staying healthy also means keeping your body in shape, so make it your goal to get at least 30-minutes of doctor-approved physical activity 4-5 days a week.

Wash Your Hands

You can minimize infections by washing your hands regularly to remove any foreign bacteria you may have picked up throughout the day.

Manage Your Stress

Stress-reducing activities can help you find a peaceful mind when dealing with symptoms. Any non-strenuous activity that brings you joy is encouraged!

Try to Stay Warm

Those with sensitivity to the cold should always carry a just-in-case jacket, even if it’s a hot day. Try hand and shoe warmers to stay warm in the winter.

Practice Time Management

Many patients experience fatigue spells, but even if you’re feeling well, try to pace yourself by spreading out daily activities and not overworking your body.
